RESULTS:
Commit Fest Successes: - George Markopoulos, and Ken Kellar
Both George and Ken not only overcame the commit hurdle, but both threw some exceptionally clean rotations during the session at Lifeguard Beach on Sunday June 29!!
LoopOff Results
- LoopOff King > Keith McCulloch
Keith simply had the most consistent and spot on loops! As one spectator commented "he's a looping machine!" - Most Loops > Andy McKinney
Andy was hucking one after the other both going out and coming in! Bam, bam, bam,... he was going for it spinning that rig all over the place!! - Most Spectacular Loop > Jeff Jones
Jeff has not looped in years, but he still definitely has the juice! The judges unanimously voted one of his FWDs as perfection! Scored the only 5 in the 1 though 5 ranking system, Jeff's loop impressed all who saw it! On top of that, Jeff hit it while riding an "old slalom board!" - LoopOff Masters > Donny Bowers
Us "young bucks" wonder if we will still be looping at 50+?! Well, Donny was out there hucking one after the other impressing the crowd, judges, photograhers, and fellow participants! He is a true loop master!! - Best Loop Crash > Bill Bell
Bill attempted a one handed FWD during the event! He rotated successfully, with a huge splashdown on impact! It was a great first for him in his aerial looping!
A grand prize will be awarded to the first successful FWD loop commit captured on video. GoPros will be mounted on participant's rigs once they have successfully committed to record the feat. Videos, photos, participants, and prizes will be posted on the site for all to see!
For 2008, a number of OBX Beach Life visitors noted the FWD loop as their number one windsurfing goal for the year. The month of June on the Outer Banks will hopefully help them achieve that goal!
Are you ready to rotate?!For more information, sponsorship, or to get involved, contact: Bill Bell
